OPINION OF CHAMBER OF BULLION TRADERS GHANA ON ESTABLISHMENT OF GOLD BOARD
The Chamber of Bullion Traders Ghana (CBTG) has released a statement rendering their support to the formation of the GOLD BOARD (Goldbod) by the government which will be the sole exporter of gold produced by small scale gold miners. The CBTG believes that the initiative is good and will serve as a conduit that will embrace all funds from gold exports and support the government’s budget for the resetting agenda.
In a statement released by the Chamber’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Daniel Krampah, he stated that the CBTG, like all stakeholders, have had to make some concessions to make way for the birth of the new idea or vision of the Goldbod by government.
He said though the Goldbod is yet to go through the various processes before it is approved by the country’s Parliament, they believe that the creation of an institution where all issues concerning the sale of small scale gold will be handled looks plausible and viable and must be supported.
The CEO noted that, ‘so far, the stakeholder engagements and dialogues held by the Ag. Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company and his Technical Committee to explain and get their inputs and concerns have helped to develop and shaped the Bill that will be passed into law to establish the Goldbod.’
‘We appreciate the open and transparent approach adopted in respect of the Goldbod’s engagements with stakeholders and hope that this will continue going forward’, Mr. Krampah stressed.
He added that the Chamber is ready to work with the Goldbod because they have the men with capacity and depth of experience to help the program to succeed.
